I've personally been dealing with a hurt back this week, and in pain, so this was refreshing to me. Our daughter, Michelle has been a dear to cook for me several days this week. *happy sigh* I know all is well when I see that. That love comes strongly from the kitchen many a day.

Hope you all are having a sweet Christmas season as we meditate upon our Lord, Jesus. I bet the Lord feels very invisible at times...Can you imagine how He must feel especially at Christmas time?

One way I have found is to glean from flylady. You will find great crockpot recipes and common sense tips on keeping house and obtaining that peaceful Christmas season.

As usual I have a movie suggestion for you...Our family is in the middle of watching it and I think you will really enjoy it... The name of the movie is, Our Vines Have Tender Grapes. (1945)


I like what a reviewer said about it: This is a wonderful movie starring Edward G Robinson and a very young Margaret O'Brien in "Our Vines Have Tender Grapes". What a splendid movie. They don't make films like this anymore and that's a shame. Edward G Robinson was the greatest actor of all time.

This clip really doesn't do the movie justice although it is precious indeed, the majority of the movie takes place in a lovely rural area... So far the movie and message is one of poignancy, joy and even a tear shed....even by my husband as we are viewing the movie this week....

I remember the first time I saw this movie, it was the week my youngest baby girl, Rebecca was born...Back in 1993. What a sweet week in my life...

The movie? It was made in 1941.


Make sure and acquaint yourself and your young people with these old great movies...

The end of this movie will have you on the edge of the seat. Jesus Christ is mentioned in a most interesting, poignant and powerful way.....Beautiful.

A Good Cup O'Coffee & Bing

It's that time of year once again...Time to count our many blessings and as always lift our country up in prayer. Many of us are scratching our heads thinking of our Thanksgiving menus...perhaps special but simple things to do for guests...

Here's one great reasonable find...

Looking for a good cup of coffee to serve guests? We recently found the Eight O'clock Coffee, Hazelnut flavor to be quite divine. I walked into the kitchen and said.... "Wowee..What do have here?" The "Hazelnut" fragrance as the coffee brewed was grand as it wafted through my kitchen...Haven't been that impressed with a flavored coffee in a while...

A Sweet, Fun Movie Suggestion for Your Family...

Here's a sweet video clip for you I would like to share from a recent movie we enjoyed as a family: It's Frank Capra's Here Comes the Groom with Bing Crosby & Jane Wyman. 1951. In the movie, there is a delightful scene where Jane Wyman makes an appearance as an imaginary tiny little lady on a spinning record album as Bing talks with her from his heart... Fascinating. I tried to find a clip of that particular scene, I couldn't locate it but did find this singing number:


Capra insisted that this musical number be filmed live.  In other words, Crosby and Wyman didn't pre-record the song and then lip-sync to it on camera, they sang it while the camera was rolling. You can hear the changes in their voices when they start cavorting around the room. A delightful number!

Capra for some reason decided he needed something more, so he threw in a grab bag of other elements. Before Crosby and his two adoptees fly back to the States, there's an extended operatic solo by the quite young and show-stopping Anna Maria Alberghetti. And when Crosby and the youthful pair finally get on the plane, they happen to sitting next to a group of USO entertainers, so of course there's a song, "Cristofo Columbo," which brings in fleeting contributions by Louis Armstrong, Frank Fontaine, Dorothy Lamour and Phil Harris.

I think I discovered the recipe for the famous Orange Marmalade Cake made by Esther in the famous and most enjoyed.... Mitford Series by Jan Karon.

I hope you enjoy it... I have not tried it yet, but one day when I get the druthers...I may very well try this labor of love. : )
